Detachable Chicken Run

Hey Y'all,

I'm going to be building a detachable chicken run out of PVC piping soon. It's not going to be anything fancy, just a 10x10x3ish run with hardware cloth around the outside of it. It just occurred to me, however, that hardware cloth may not be needed on the top of it, just the sides, which would allow me to use a somewhat weaker material? Your thoughts? Should I just use the sturdy hardware cloth all around it?

Hi, having built a small detachable run for my broody coop from pvc tubing, i'd suggest going for hardware cloth on the top as it will give greater rigidity to the structure.

Use the hardware cloth. Three feet isn't that high, so the top of the run will be easy to access.

Kool. Should it be 20 or 18 gauge? In your opinion.

Typical hardware cloth is 19ga.
