I just found the coolest device.
Its a motion detector rainbird sprinkler by HAVAHART.
My chickens wouldn't leave my seedlings alone and I did not want to build a fence around my garden. It works great...........so far. AND it will activate when dogs, cats, deer, bears, coyotes, racoons....etc are near. All the way down to rat size critters. (though the sensitivity is limited the smaller the animal.)
So far its only took 2 activations and the girls are avoiding my garden!

I first found it at my local hardware store. For $70!!

BUT, I found one on Amazon for $45 (approx.) with free shipping.

Here's the link to the Havahart 5265 Spray Away Motion Detector sprinkler - is that the one you mean? I wonder how well it would work - I'd love to avoid fencing in my vegetable garden!
