OMG, how can he be gone??? His girls were still picking on one of his wattles, so we got a pet wound ointment that has benzocaine and some natural oils in a beeswax base, had some aromatic stuff that I guess he reacted to. I saw him sit down and keel over. I grabbed him up and ran to the house yelling for my husband. We washed it off ASAP, did CPR, but couldn't save him. We are so sick that we lost him this way when we were only trying to help him. My poor sweet Hawkeye. God, I'll miss him so much. RIP, my precious Hawkeye. Thank the Lord, I have his son, Zane.

Oh Cyn I am so very very sorry.

Oh god I am so sorry he was the most beautiful rooster I have ever seen. Thank god you saved one of his son's to carry on his legacy. Do not blame yourself accidents happen. I am really sad right now I hope he has the most beautiful harem in chicken heaven.

Its called something like Tri-Care. Has many of the same things as VetRx, plus benzocaine for a painkiller and some other stuff. It was more for an antipick lotion than to heal the wound itself. Put a little on the end of his wattles and on the top of his comb points that had scabs on them. It was so fast. He was running around and messing with Suede, then he just sat down and I saw his eyes look funny, then he fell over sideways and I grabbed him and ran. Why didn't I leave well enough alone? I can't stop crying. I loved that rooster so much. He was very special.
