I am sorry for your loss. I know how that one feels. I lost 7 muscoveys and a chicken to neighbours dogs about a month ago. Same thing they just killed them did not attempt to eat them.

That's a hard blow. I had 14 hens/ guineas killed because I did not close the door one night. Guilty. guilty, guilty! It seems that everything is out to kill our chickers. My most precious moments are when I sit and visit with my girls and their handsome man.

I took out treats and sat with them a while tonight. They were clearly looking around for the roo or another hen. Still, a pecking order has calmly set itself up, which is a sign of returning to normalcy, as are 2 eggs.

Thanks again for all your kind words. I think non-chicken folks are very sympathetic, but it takes chicken lovers to really understand.

No it doesn't sound odd. It is senseless destruction when the dogs do it. They become crazed and pack hungry. I have coyote troubles too but at least they take one at a time and EAT it!

So sorry for your loss.

I feared a situation like this, as the neighbors dog habitually gets loose around the neighborhood and a few times come into my yard. I told the neighbors whom own it that I have chickens and ducks, etc and that if their dog ever comes into my yard and attacks anything that it WILL be shot. all the animals houses are in a fenced off section, but I'm sure this dog would find a way around it.
