Hi, I bought my first eight chickens about two months ago now, 4 buckeye, and 4 BSL, I started enjoying them so much I am now up to 23 and considering more. I'm curious how many I can have in one coop? The coop and run are large and I have plenty of acreage for them to play on but wondering if an even 30 would be too many for one big coop.

from California, how big is your coop/run?

! Great to have you with us! The recommended coop size is 4 sq. ft. per standard sized bird. The run should be 10 sq. ft. per bird. You can probably get away with less space if they are afforded lots of ranging opportunities. Good luck to you!

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

You have enough coop space for 56 birds (lucky you!) and run space for even more
