DEVESTATED :(

these things happen we all have had troubles here with heat and stoms electric i them i am going to install a small solar and battery back up ..well start a new clucth and hope the next hatch goes better for you..we have lost electic and ahad so many brown outs here is Virginia. that I think we need to stablized. and let the heat cool off some ..I NOTICED A LOT OF BREEDERS HAVE STOPPED SHIPPING CHICKS RIGHT NOW.

I would not put another egg in that LG. They are well known for their temperature spikes due to thermostat malfunctions. At the very least I would replace the thermostat with a new one and add a fan. That being said you can buy a new GQF Hovabator w/fan for about the same amount of money as fixing your LG. I think the GQF Hovabator is a much better incubator. www.gqfmfg.com

I'm running LG';s, 2 of them. I've had some good hatches but also has some funky stuff with temps and have had a chick cut it's beak and head up on the fan it is so low in there once they hatch. Someday I hope to upgrade to a better bator but for now I'm making the LG's work. There are some good tips on running LG's, first thing I did was add milk caps to the adjustment controls which has made a big difference they are just soooooooo touchy.

No doubt you can have good hatches with an LG but I don't have any patience for what you call funky stuff. I will not risk my eggs and chicks to equipment that has known problems. LG could make this an easy fix if they would stop using those crappy thermostats.

Unfortunately, I found Backyarchickens after I purchased my bators, lol... And money is not readily available to replace them at this time. So I'm making the best of it and learning as much as possible along the way.
