Dewormers - What Do You Use?

have you have your chickens poop tested for worms loads to see if it really does work?
99% of the time you won't actually see a worm unless they are severely infested with them.
No, I haven't. I would not know where to send poop around here anyway. We do not have many vets in my area that see chickens at all.

Ok I have a question. I have never wormed my chickens. I know people do to prevent. I'm one that unless its needed I don't do it. I have never had to deal with it. And after research I have decided to go with valbazen. I have one chicken I'm pretty sure has them. My question is most of my chickens are molting. I know its not recommended to do when molting. Should I only do the one and wait to do the others?

If you want to do while molting I do believe Wazine is the suggested wormer. Valbazen messes with feather growth? @KikisGirls

If you are sure which one it is you could do just her and risk it. I'm not sure the consequences of using valbazen during molt. So I really can't advise....

I usually use ivermectin when mine need it. I've used Wazine in the past when I had a big flock to do all at once, because it is a lot easier to put it in the water than to round up 20+ chickens and figure out how to get meds in their mouths. I have done that too though.

Being house roos though the occasional ivermectin blob should knock out any potential worms they get through random means. Probably do it about 2x a year like I do my horses.

I'd say to have the flocks poop tested first..to determine if they have worms or not.
I'd never recommend worming a molting bird.
