I recently gave my big birds 1 ml of safeguard paste since one of the rirs that is broody have roundworms in her poop.
I have 4 5.5 week old EEs that are typically separate but occasionally share the same run ( I lock the big birds up un their smaller run when I clean the little ones coop and pen).
Everything I am reading says I can't deworm them with safeguard at their age.
I haven't seen any suspect poop from them but they have only been out there for 2 weeks. I added a herbal preventative to their water and a little garlic powder to their food. Should I wait and see if anyone becomes symptomatic? Add a small amount of the paste to their feed? I'm not sure what to do.

You actually could deworm them but you probably do not need to.
Thanks Kiki! I had read 0.23mg/lb of bird. I'm not even sure they weigh more than a pound yet. I have a baby scale but I doubt they would stay on it long enough to register.

I have seven 7.5 wk old chicks in a similar situation, with similarly limited exposure to what will in the future be a common run. Are there particular signs I should watch for in them, since one of my hens had roundworms in her poop? (I just treated her and the other adults yesterday with Valbazen.) My chicks may spend even less time in that entire area than the OP's chicks were spending, as they're in a separate indoor building til their enclosure is ready, which will be in a few days.

... What I mean is, I'd rather not deworm my chicks if I don't have to, but I certainly will if necessary.

If they have been on soil, yes, you can worm them with Valbazen, 1/4ml orally to each chick.
I start worming at 5-6 weeks.
...and I just now found another thread where you and someone else advise on how to dose chicks, etc. Very informative. Thanks so much!
