Deworming?need anwser!

I don't know if it would work on chickens (don't really know why not) but black walnut hulls , the type you buy in the gelatin capsules in the health food section of the store worked to de-worm our dogs. Worked really well as a physical agent, not a chemical one. I just open the capsules (2-3 for a dog, probably need more for chicken feed, depending on how many you have) and dump it in their wet food and mixed it in once a day for a week or two, until I didn't see any evidence of worms in their stools anymore. Maybe do a mash of yogurt, crumbles and black walnut hulls to deworm a small number of birds. It's totally harmless, too.

I have dewormed mine as I was hoping none had any but wanted to be sure so I put DE in their food or water. I also put a good helping of red pepper flakes in their food.
Bringing in new chickens I always use both of those during the isolation phase. Not to mention DE in their dust baths and nests. Can't beat DE use for the coop floors or any broody boxes.

DE = diatomaceous earth. It's a white powder, and most feed stores or nurseries carry it.

I bought a bag of powder dewormer from www.theholistichorse.com for my hens. You mix 3 cups into a 50 lb bag of food. It says on the bag 100% safe 100% Natural 100% effective. It's called Wormguard Plus Broad Spectrum for Poultry. Controls intestinal parasites without harmful chemicals.
