I have read several threads on the instructions for deworming with Safeguard for goats but I'm still confused. I am only going to worm Lucy right now. She has not been feeling well for a week now. I have not seen worms in her stools but they are quite runny. The only dewormer I was able to find is Safeguard for goats at 10% suspension. I would prefer to just give it to her in a syringe since she is not eating or drinking very well. Any advice on dosing amount & egg discard time would be greatly appreciated!!

The amount I give mine is 0.23ml per pound for five days if I suspect capillary worms. For just roundworms and cecal worms I give it once and repeat in ten days.

Can you post a picture of her poop?

She is 2 years old. She is not eating much at all. I have her separated & comfy. She didn't even eat all of her scrambled egg this morning but she is drinking quite a bit. I am adding Save-A-Chick & probiotics to her water. Her stools are mostly liquid but I have tried to take a few pix for you. The two dark spots are her stools. You will notice that there is liquid around the stools.

Is she still laying eggs? Sometimes it is hard to figure out the problem right away. If you have a vet that would examine her droppings, and do a fecal float for worms, coccidia, and bacteria, it might help. If she has a reproductive problem, such as salpingitis, egg yolk peritonitis, or internal laying, she could be showing symptoms. Hot temperatures can cause watery droppings, especially if they are drinking a lot to keep hydrated.

She is not currently laying. When I first noticed she wasn't feeling well I checked her to make sure she wasn't egg bound. She has been in my "sick bay" for a week tomorrow. After I started giving her the Save-A-Chick in her water she perked up & was acting much better. I'm pretty sure she had a blocked crop. But now she is acting worse again. I am still giving her Save-A-Chick & also added probiotics yesterday. I don't know of any exotic vets near me. Our temps are heating up this week but her stools were runny before it got warmer. She is actually staying pretty cool in my garage.

Check her crop first thing in the morning to see if it is flat before she eats. Feel of her breastbone to see if she has lost weight, and feel of her lower belly to see if it is enlarged or there is fluid inside of it. Here are some links to read about internal laying:

Thank you!! She's barely eating anything & yes she's already losing weight. Her lower belly is not enlarged. It felt normal yesterday. Would you recommend deworming her to see if it would help? I don't know what else to do to try to help her.

Offer her some chopped egg, and put some electrolytes in her water--SaveAChick is good, or add some gatorade or pedialyte. Deworming would help if her problem is worms, so you can use Valbazen or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer.
