Deworming question....

Hello,
I am getting a new rooster for my established flock and was hoping to deworm him for internal parasites so that my hens don’t get infected (just to be safe). I have some Panacure (fenbendazole) paste that I could give at a very low dose as well as some injectable ivermectin. Any suggestion or recommendations would be very appreciated!

No vets in my area work with small flicks of chickens I will still ask though....

You don't need a vet in your area. Just a vet, period, who answers phone calls. Find an avian vet online and call them to ask.

Hopefully you plan on keeping the new rooster quarantined for 30days for observation?

If you decide to worm him, I would use the Panacur or get some Safeguard liquid goat wormer.
Check him for lice/mites.
Observe him for any respiratory symptoms - coughing, sneezing, snicking, wheezing, runny nose or mucous, watery or bubbly eyes - any of those symptoms don't add him to your flock at all.

You said you had Panacur (fenbendazole) paste or Ivermectin - and asked which one to use...I said I would use the Panacur?! You have paste correct?

Yes I have the paste. I was thinking of giving him a pea sized amount orally... hopefully that should work
