I just had my chickens fecal test done at the vet (multiple birds poo) and it came back positive for coccidia and pin worms. I'm currently waiting for the vet to call back to tell me what the meds would be but thought I'd see what you all on here had to say while I wait. :D

They free range in my yard so unsure how to ever stop them from getting reinfected. Decided to test them after one bird was lethargic and passed away recently but other than her they are all seeming fine? I'm assuming theyre all infected though. They're all adults laying and weigh around 5-6 lbs

CORID and Valbazen. Others use ivermectin for worms. It is hard to prevent reinfection, all depends on what you have in your environment, and what they eat while free ranging. So sorry for your loss. If I see a need to worm ( usually dirty vents) then I worm all of them. Currently have 17 girls.

Thanks for the reply! I will take y'all's route next time after seeing the price of the bill!! 😂😂😂 They prescribed Albon (sulfadimethoxine) and panacur (Fenbendazole). Would just have to figure out the dosage. Tomorrow is my attempt to start them, going to try to give them pieces of bread soaked in the medicine. It should work, shouldn't it?

It should work, shouldn't it?
Yes, it should work and using this method allows one to ensure each chicken gets the correct dosage. Ivermectin isn't effective in some regions on internal parasites and works out as rather expensive when treating a group of chickens.
If the bread soake in the deworming paste fails a grape with the paste squeezed into it has worked for me in the past.
