deworming your chickens

hi I have a flock of 12 11 hens and 1 rooster

I want to beworm them but don't know what to use or when to us it this is my first time deworming them and don't want any thing to go in the eggs

Can you collect some fresh poop and run it to the nearest vet for a fecal float test?
Why treat them and have to throw the eggs away if they don't have worms.
