a week ago we discovered that at least one of our egg laying hens had worms. We dewormed with Valbazen after reading several suggestions in other posts. I know that we need to give a repeat dose, but we are still seeing live worms. We only have 3 hens but we still aren't sure which, or all, chicken the worms are coming from. We are cleaning the coop and run daily to keep clean as best as possible. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated, we miss our eggs!

Are the worms alive or moving? The second dose of Valbazen is usually given at 10 to 14 days to get the worm larvae. Then you could get a check of the droppings by a vet in a fecal float if you are still seeing worms. Many people rotate different wormers to keep worms from developing resistence to drugs.

The worms are still moving, although the number of worms has decreased. This is the first time we have had an issue with worms so just trying to treat them properly

Dosage for Valbazen (albendazole) is 20 mg per Kg or 0.2 ml per Kg. I would round off to 10mg or 0.1ml per pound of weight. Valbazen works over several days in killing worms which can be safer to use.
