When I deworm my chickens can I still eat the eggs that are produced or do I have to wait? At what age do I start worming them? I have a few peeps, but chickens that range 3 months to 5 months

A) depends what you worm them with
B) do you have a reason to worm, or just preventative?

Cayenne powder, pumpkin (raw), and diatomacious earth are all excellent non-chemical wormers

So I just give them raw pumpkin? How much ? What about the diascomatic earth? How do I administer it? On the bottle the Wazine 17 says not for egg laying poultry.

I would use a natural wormer honestly. one of the natural ones i listed, then you can eat your eggs the whole time, and cayenne kick starts laying. but no if you go the wazine route i wouldnt eat the eggs for about a week.

pumpkin is the easiest. take pumpkin, smash open in run, let birds eat. cayenne just mix with feed till its rust colored. D earth just mix in with feed. i get it at our local feedmill

Does the Cayenne pepper put any sort of taste in the eggs?

DE is useless as a wormer. Cayenne pepper and crushed pumpkin seeds may help as a worm preventatives but will not treat worm infestations. Worms do considerable damage to a birds innards. Warm moist soil is condusive for worms and may require frequent wormings. I dont recommend wazine as a wormer, only as a last resort. Wazine only gets rid of large roundworms and chickens can carry many types of worms. Therefore you'd need to use a broad spectrum wormer such as safeguard liquid goat wormer or valbazen cattle/sheep wormer. Both are excellent wormers.
Wazine is mixed in water. The problem is that if you have wormy birds, you dont know if they drank the wazine treated water or if they drank enough of it to be effective. Sick and lethargic wormy birds wont drink. Using a wormer such as the safeguard or valbazen which are administered orally...you KNOW your birds were properly wormed.

I DO eat the eggs from the chickens I have wormed. I am very careful NOT to give any eggs away during this period. The egg withdrawal perios varies, but usually runs two weeks after the last worming. You worm the birds, wait 10 days, then worm again. Now wait 14 days. That is a total of 24 days that the eggs should not be sold or given away.

I use valbrazen. I did the research and this is a wormer that is used on people for pork worms. Since our family is not sensitive to anything else, we weren't worried about any kind of an allergeric reaction. However, I don't give them away or sell them during this period because who knows what other folks are sensitive to.

Worms come from eating things from the dirt. If your birds never touch the dirt, you don't have to worry about worming. I like to worm mine for the first time around 20 weeks of age. This is a about 3 - 6 weeks before they start laying for the first time. That way, I don't have to worry about tossing eggs. After that, I like to worm mine twice a year. I don't like to do it in the middle of summer when the birds are already heat stressed. I usually end up doing it around April and October.

In your case... I would wait until the youngest are around 5 months and then worm both groups at the same time.
