Dexter can't see

Dexter is part silkie. She has five toes and a poof on her head. I don't think she can see looking forward due to the feathers. Should I trim them and if so, how?

bump.. Please help Dexter. It takes her about 5 tries to get on the roost at night. I feel so bad for her but don't dare just cut the feathers. Is that what I do, trim them?

I would cut it just be really careful not to cut her.

Awe, Dexter is so cute. I trimmed my Polish girls "hair" w/ rounded edge nose hair trimmers. I did it by myself but should have had someone hold her-she is a squirmer. Make sure she has no blood feathers in the area you are trimming. Blood feathers will have all or some of the keratin casing and have a blue to black inky appearance at the base. If you do end up cutting a blood feather take tweezers and pull it out quickly, apply pressure, and then put quick-stop or cornstarch paste on the folicle. My Polish's head always is so dirty from flung food and stuff I worry about eye infection as well as her not being able to see. Boy I wrote a book here! Good luck w/ the trim.

If it was my bird I would trim those pesky feathers. Give Dexter a chance to see.
That is a strange way to have feather grow, isn't it?
