In the Brooder
So what we thought was just a big Black Star (asked some AG folks to help me ID the breed in poultry building at the Ft. Worth Stock and rodeo back in late Jan) hen glowed up in about a week and an half into a big beautiful either Maran or Welsummer mix. I can’t guarantee the exact breed; asked the guy I was buying what I thought was all hens, and he said he had no idea, that it was his brothers chickens. He doesn’t mind being picked up. He will run a lot. Hasn’t attacked me. He is a bit of an opportunist with the ladies, if there’s treats and they’re distracted, he’ll take his shot. But otherwise they rather boss him around. He’s very close to our little cinnamon queen (who still tries to sleep under his wings), but being in city limits we can’t keep a roo. If you want him or can refer anyone who does, let me know.
Thank you!
Thank you!
