DH helping with the cool down!

You guys will not believe what my DH did.

We buried a 3000gal tank off an old milk truck in the back yard and ran gutters off the barn so that the collected water would fill up the tank.
On Friday it rained 2 inches and now we have a full tank!!!!

What do we do with all this water????

DH hooked up a solar panel, a 12volt RV pump and some PVC and a hose and now our girls have their own misting system!!!!

This is right on time since it is going to be nearing 106 this week!!!

Now you just send that wonderful man right over here. I have lots of stuff he could do 'round here!

ok, here are some pics.
Here's the milk truck tank from one end. It isn't completely filled in yet because DH still wants access to the "control end" Not sure why just yet.
You can see the pipes sticking out the top.

Here's the gutter at the bottom of the barn. The bottom was easier than the top due to the corrugated nature of the materials.
We just riveted it on.

The large black tube is coming from the gutters. The 1/2 inch pvc is coming from another access into the tank and it goes straight into this little RV pump which is hooked to a solar panel via a battery and a charge controller.

Here's a better pic with the solar panel.

And after it comes out of the pump, a 100ft garden hose takes it over to the coop where I have a cheapo Lowes misting system set up for the girls.

That's about it!

How cool is that.... wow, I live near seattle so we are misted a lot anyway but there have been a few days that would have been nice. The water stays somewhat cool under the ground like that too, right?
