DH is going to make me lose my chickens.

My DH just HATES chickens! He says they poo on his equipment, so I make sure they can't get to his stuff.

In return, when I can't do it, he will take care of my girls. He loves me, and what is important to me, matters to him. He is very tender-hearted toward all animals, and will not allow one to get hurt unnecessarily.

That said, be sure that when butcher day comes for meaties...he's more than happy to help with the job.

Humans are the biggest predator a chicken has...we're just kinder about it than other varmints.

H2B gave me the same lecture, that's why I know he's a keeper. He said "if they are important to you then they need to be important to me so I need to know how to care for them so that I can help you find ways to make it easier for you and your birds to be happy"

I don't have a problem with my hubby taking care of the chickens, he does it well after I showed it to him once. He would even dump heavy 50# feed bags into the containers and make any necessary repairs on the chicken coop if I am not able to do it.

Even he would mistakenly feed the chickens some miniature M&M's I forgave him once I told him you don't feed chickens chocolate ever again. Feed them spagetti or whatever leftover our daughter eats from supper is good enough!

All I have to do is just ask him and if he forgets near the time he supposed to shut up the chickens while I was recuperating from surgery, I would remind him and he would get to it promptly.

I agree, he is a keeper despite of all of his other faults.

Way to go SpeckledHen, your hubby is definately a keeper! He also has compassion for your girls and even made his own pets too!

I am in the opposite position. My wife would not shut the chicken door at night. But if they were my wifes chickens and I did not like them this is how it would be put to me. I would be reminded "HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE"
