Diagnosing low production in "big flock"?

Thats the funny thing about it, little snakes they will gobble right up, even tear them apart fighting over them, big snakes they go corn cob crazy over and have a huge tizzy fit which is probably good because at some point, the positions in the food chain swap. I wonder if they can recognize species too? Rat snakes are obviously good for rats but when they get big enough they will go after the eggs and in some parts are called chicken snakes for that exact reason. Hmm I wonder what snake eggs taste like?
