Diamond doves outside?

Anyone know if diamond doves need heated outdoor quarters? Or other dove species.

I don't heat my coop. They live outdoors in nature in the cold, I don't see why the couldn't. I have never had a problem with my doves or pigeons getting sick/ dying from the cold.............

Some species do but ringnecks don't and diamond doves I suppose it depends on where you live and what your loft is like. Although I have heard of people living in the coldest parts of the US keeping them without heat, outside. Just make sure they can get away from the wind and have plenty of protien and carbs to keep weight on them.

A friend of mine used to raise Diamond doves in an unheated coop, in the Baltimore area. We get some cold nights but not like other parts of the country. I was told, like pigeons and ringnecks, they can live in cold so long as there's no drafts.

My pair of doves were given to me last yr. I think they are ringnecks. In the winter they live inside my chicken barn in a cage and we close all the windows and door of the barn on bad days. In the rest of the seasons they live in their hutch in the chicken yard and they do fine. We get extreme cold and snow in the winter here sometimes in CA so I don't take the chance of leaving them outside in winter. In late fall they start fluffing up and huddling together and I know its time to move them indoors!
