Hello! I have about a 1yr old hen silkie/EE mix who was laying consistently until about Feb/March and has since been exhibiting diarrhea. She doesn't have any pasty butt and it just shoots out. It doesn't appear in any concerning colors, she eats, drinks, runs around, and looks to otherwise be happy and healthy.

She was treated for mites and lice in April, wormed for tapeworm last month, and treated recently for scaley leg mites.

Frankly, I'm not in dire need of the eggs so if it's just her on strike, that's fine. But the diarrhea I tend to worry about since it does seem like something abnormal.

Welcome To BYC

Please post photos of your hen and her poop.

She's not laid eggs since Feb/March - 8months?
Any bloat or fluid in the abdomen below the vent between her legs?

Where are you located in the world?
What do you feed?

You treated for lice/mites, Scaly Leg Mites and Tapeworms this year - did she have all of these issues? What products were used to treat her?

Hopefully with a bit more info and photos we can offer suggestions.

Thank you! I will get some pic later today. Scaley leg mites were a highly probable hunch, tapeworm was because I treated one hen and was told to treat all (i only have 4) by the local farm supply store, and lice and mites were a definite yes. I live in the PNW and am a new chicken mama and just got my flock last year all as pullets.

Mites/lice: I sprayed her with Scalex and dusted with DE and kept checking and repeating the process on all my girls for several days (can't recall the instructions on the scalex for that). I also did a super deep clean of my coop for several days.

SLM: Soaked in warm Epsom salt bath and gently scrubbed scales with soft tooth brush. First 2 days i slathered with Vaseline. Then put 1 drop of Pour on ivermectin on each leg.

Tapeworm: she took 1 round of Poultry Wormer 5x Fenbendazole. No sign of tapeworm.

I have tried giving Selenium E, vitamin b12, nutra Dench, probiotics, prebiotocs, electrolytes, poultry boost.....I haven't seen an improvement but I also have struggled finding the right dosage/length of time I should give these to her.

She does not appear or feel bloated. She runs and is still seemingly happy and inquisitive. She takes treats, is bright eyed, but has definitely stopped going up to the sleep in the roost in the coop at night and now just sleeps in the nest box.

Thank you for any suggestions! I have been posting about her in my local FB chicken groups for ages and I have gotten zero feedback. One of them is even a poultry vet one. 🤷‍♀️ So any suggestions are super appreciated.

Not sure what's wrong. I'd keep an eye on her abdomen for any bloating.

I will definitely do that. Do you think it might be beneficial to possibly treat with Corid? I haven't seen blood in her poop and will post pics when I get home later today but I had read a post one time somewhere of a situation where a person had a chicken with similar projectile poop and their vet said they needed to treat for cocci. However, I also understand that Corid can be harsh on them.

You can give her corid if you want, it won't harm her.
