oh geez MC I don't know what to tell you, I am phsyco with temps, I have been known to set multiple alarms on my cell just to wake up at 3am to double check if I had adjusted before bed! But I am told I am wacked before, oh wait that was guilty I am! he he he

MC I will add, I just found something out with my brooder thermometer, its off by 20 degrees! that means the chicks were at 77 degrees instead of 97 !!! I never had a chick issue yet! I figured it out because the coal stove is off in the lower level and it was freezing down there, and I couldn't get it up over 90 in the brooder, so for some reason I tool the acurite out of the bator and put it in there and two hrs later I figure it all out! Now I don't know if its because I just sterilized the thermometer and maybe I got water in it or what!

It's been a working day on the farm here, so I will say goodnight and good morning to those getting up across the seas!

Not at all! haha.

I've been busy and I haven't been able to the check the thread as often. I've been reading everything, but by the time I get on, all the questions have already been answered. Next week should be less busy.

By the way, I was reading your other thread and I'm proud of you. You were able to overcome a lot today. I still don't think I could ever do it, but that's ok with me.

Quote: if she is staying in the cup the right way, its ok, she is at least exercising her legs. you didn't put them on too tight right? check for swollen toes. She is just mad and alone, she will calm down.
I'm gonna keep saying this: Sal you are amazing!!! So calm and cool headed!! We are so lucky to have you!!!

Sally, thank you so much for the tip about the vent plugs... I'm thinking that was my problem!! After 2 hatches with only one chick hatching really early, I pulled out he vent plugs and the last one was 3 for 3 (even though 1 had the leg problems, and so far, this hatch 5 of 7 have hatched!! I'm SO happy to be getting live chicks... I was ready to give up. Day 21 isn't over until about noon tomorrow, so the other two still have time. One had great movement at lockdown, and one is such a dark egg, I couldn't see a thing, even with 2 lights, so I have no idea what to expect...

I think there was something more wrong with the chick than her feet. She's sagging her head all over the place. I don't think she will make it through the night
