Quote: i know that feeling .... hmm what breeds ya got ? lol
I have no clue what I have that's the problem. It annoys me to no end, but I cant keep feeding them for nothing that I do know and now that DH is out of work for 4+weeks I need to seriously cut my feed bill of the freeloaders.

Mich.....  go look at Christina's image on her profile!  That is the type of chicks from CPL!!!  we just discussed!! https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/190585/dcba-flock

Christina what breed is that?  YAY!!!

My spitz chicks are about 4-5 weeks!
That little guy is a Mille Fluer Du'uccle he is the cutest! Best little crow (started @ 8 weeks)! I only have one but would get more in the future! I'm trying out one or two of a bunch of different breeds ( from local breeders and now I'm starting to hatch eggs) to decide which ones I like best. With over 15 different breeds right now it's hard to choose I really like them all for different reasons! My favorites so far are Norwegian Jaerhon, Araucana and Ameraucana! This is a great thread!! Thanks for all the super information!

Quote: awwwww Do yours like to fly a lot? mine keep going into the shed rafters! (and your welcome for the info, some great people on the thread, we like to chat, discuss, learn, teach and help!)

That's what I thought! I have three just like that one! two have darker wattles and one is a tad lighter but just as big, they will go to auction since I cant do more breeds, ya know I am starting to think I screwed up on the breeding choices, smaller birds poop less eat less and need less room, AND THAT MEANS MORE BIRDS RIGHT????

been a quiet day!

I am in a sad spell for some reason, I will blame it on dreary RAIN! I have to let a ton of chicks I have been growing out go to auction and I am trying to figure out what breeds and its dumbfounding me! ugggggg

Unfortunately, candling my current hatch revealed rolling air cells. I was able to see it in at least half of the eggs.

Yep. 14 years of age.

Nice birds.

I've been to St. Louis to the Cardinal game. I'm way behind and I've got chicks hatching at home. Won't be there until 10 ish.

Holy Moly! I don't think I was even thinking kids at that age!   oh and Thanks!
Who won the game?  Who is chicksitting!!  bawahhhhaaaaaaa or should I say "batornosin"!!!!

Cards won.

My 17 year old son was watching. We only had two hatch until I got home and two more hatched almost immediately. Lots of pips. It was 21 days about 7 pm. It's going on 22 days Now. I'm seeing a pattern. Forced air with 100 temp is 20 days. No air with 102 is 22 days and longer.

Got home and one bator I sat yesterday was on 108. I said heck with that and moved all of them to the pop machine. The pop machine hasn't varied over half a degree since I started it up. I have buff orp eggs, Cucko Maran eggs and blrw eggs n it. Hopefully the ones that were 108 are fine. They were 99 degrees this morning and I bumped them. Must of been to much.

The one I locked down yesterday was 97 degrees. Can't leave the house for nothing. I bumped it back up. I'll check it as soon as I post this.

One forced air bator is still on 100. It never varies. I'm retiring the little Giants. I hate still air bators. I may use them for hatching if I need the room. I think the soda machine is going to work great.

Quick update before bed. 6 chicks. 4 have hatched since we for home about an hour and a half ago. One chick popped the wrong end. I assisted it quite a bit. It's still got a ways to go. But it can breathe.
