Quote: This is my issue, one run is 35 x 35 give or take and the other is just the same but odd as it hits on the trees because we coulndt dig posts in some spots. And filled with trees... U G L Y nasty, and then you make tiny runs, they live in filth, its a no win situation. but I will see if I get my results today and then figure out what I will do, I have a plan but its ugly. I am upset, but worst comes to worst I sell all them and move on to something else. And NOT A WATER BUFFALO, however cute she is!

Oh, Sally. If you saw Asheville, NC you would fall in love. If ever I was to move back to the mountains, that's where I would be. Its almost like Vermont, but a bit longer summer and a lot less snow in the winter.

besides, what stops a bird from flying overhead and pooping through the overhead netting?
oh the inspector brought the issue up, and he said "I know I know the birds can sit and "crap" he used a better word lol, but its a requirement and its even on the checklist that needs checked."

I will have to ask DH where his dad and girl just moved, they gave me an address but I honestly havent a clue where I put it! He is a hunter and I think thats why they moved there.

I can not answer for Sally, but the way it happened for me was, I had someone from the Harrisburg Lab come out and test because I had some sick birds a few years ago, and got really concerned since we are less than half a mile from some very large production houses and I knew they were having issues...while they were walking around I got to talking about NPIP, they took one look at the old silo's and all the pigeons that fly around and told me I would have to cover everything....I kind of laughed at the time because I do not mind the pigeon's, now the little sparrow's are another story.

What about the gray PVC? Its made for outdoor applications even up north. Its still very light and it doesn't weather like wood and you can make it with an open bottom so that you can move the runs around and keep the ground from getting torn up. I can make one 10X5 run for about $70 (If I shop at Lowes) and have wire left over for another run.

The place where I work used the gray stuff to make a PVC run that is about 10X20, with a vaulted ceiling and a short, human sized door. A little heavier, but still completely movable for one person.

Oz, let me know when you're making mozzarella, I used to do it a lot and I need some inspiration to get at it again. I wish I knew someone with a milk cow. My friend has cows but they're all angus for the butcher. Guess I will have to stick to the Organic stuff.

Have you tried making yogurt? I need a water buffalo, I have a pond, who needs muscovies? I'll get rid of them to make room for a buffalo. My husband nixed the goat idea, he'll HAVE to agree to the water buffalo!!!
