I am not sure what you are asking.I am confused by the first study.... OR ? what about both lolthis really is an important finding for me, because storage is key and if I end up not selling eggs I can keep them for incubation in bulk and the more I understand perhaps the better hatch I will get. Example the lot that is in both coolerbators going into lockdown today, Air cells are ALL over the place, and NOT due to shipping, lol they are all ours. its due to how old the egg is. So I would assume that I should GO AGAINST WHAT WE HAVE ALL READ AND BEEN TAUGHT and go with little end up and continue to turn. Reading about the Albium and such it all makes complete sense!![]()
1 Conclusions
"In conclusion, storage in the small end up position or turning during storage can significantly
reduce early and late embryonic mortality. It will increase your profits, especially in eggs that are
highly sensitive to prolonged egg storage. "http://www.hatchtech.nl/aboutus/articles/Alternative Egg Storage Methods Small End Up or Turning.pdf
2 "CONCLUSIONS
Storing eggs with the small end up is an alternative method to improve hatchability and to reduce egg weight and hatchling weight losses in eggs derived from young and old breeders stored up to 14 days."http://www.scielo.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S1516-635X2012000400003
Based on the conclusions, I think that if less than 7 days, it does not matter what you do. If greater than 7 days it looks like storing opposite to what we have always thought will improve hatchability.
This has nothing to do with the embryo- remember its just hanging out in a dormant state. Its about the water loss in the egg. (think about what an old hard boiled egg looks like)
