Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

I am confused by the first study.... OR ? what about both lol

this really is an important finding for me, because storage is key and if I end up not selling eggs I can keep them for incubation in bulk and the more I understand perhaps the better hatch I will get. Example the lot that is in both coolerbators going into lockdown today, Air cells are ALL over the place, and NOT due to shipping, lol they are all ours. its due to how old the egg is. So I would assume that I should GO AGAINST WHAT WE HAVE ALL READ AND BEEN TAUGHT and go with little end up and continue to turn. Reading about the Albium and such it all makes complete sense!

1 Conclusions
"In conclusion, storage in the small end up position or turning during storage can significantly
reduce early and late embryonic mortality. It will increase your profits, especially in eggs that are
highly sensitive to prolonged egg storage.

2 "CONCLUSIONS
Storing eggs with the small end up is an alternative method to improve hatchability and to reduce egg weight and hatchling weight losses in eggs derived from young and old breeders stored up to 14 days."http://www.scielo.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S1516-635X2012000400003
I am not sure what you are asking.

Based on the conclusions, I think that if less than 7 days, it does not matter what you do. If greater than 7 days it looks like storing opposite to what we have always thought will improve hatchability.

This has nothing to do with the embryo- remember its just hanging out in a dormant state. Its about the water loss in the egg. (think about what an old hard boiled egg looks like)

Quote: Not really asking lol.... it says what it says, its the OR in the study that made it sound like you do one or the other.... The reason this is import to me is that it would take an est of 11 days collection to completely fill what bators I have now and if I get a larger one I can do more at a shot, instead of small ones here and there and have a zillion brooders never ending... I can have chicks in one place because of age and save on heat and work lol not that I am ever trying to make life easier! BAWAHHAAA

NPIP people do you have to order your 9-3 forms Harrisburg still hasnt got back to me and I have eggs to send the end of the week! I have a sloppy copy of one thats all they gave.

Got my NPIP forms scanned and the rest are in the mail. she said I only need the 9-3 form is this right?

oz r you back in CA

I forgot how much fun it was to hatch!!! The Serama always hatch on day 19-20 for me and they are doing so now!

of course my first two pips are malpositions, they are usually the first to pip! Ever think about WHY that is????????
As I told Mich with her NY hatch, dont panic if they pip and rest for some time, follow the assist guide, only clear the hole IF NEEDED of excess fluid, most times they are fine.
REMEMBER that malpositioned pip is both the INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL pips! While the others are probably sitting in there with internal pips doing the same as that little guy! So time them the same as the rest of the hatch before heading into SAVE them as you may be doing them more harm than good and NEVER open the air cell end of a malposition chick! you work from that pip hole, remember its all in the assist article!

Hey guys I have noticed that the air cells from my eggs aren't growing as it should. Humidity is from 25_ 35. And it's day 15
get water out of the bator, recalibrate thermometers and hygro, can you snap a pick of a candle so we can see aircell please?
