Just popping in to say hello! It's been a rough morning here. A bobcat got in to the duck pen last night and had three ducks disappear, feathers everywhere. My DH stayed out real late to see if it would come back and it did. All my pens are coyote proof, apparently.... Not bobcat proof. I locked them in the coop inside the pen (all hot wired poultry fencing) and lost the forth one this morning. Ugh! So they have all been moved now to my yard and just waiting for that bad boy to show up again tonight!

On the plus side... Still have 6 dancing eggs on day 12 in the bator. MarineCorpFarmer (MCF.. going to start abbreviation, your name is toooooo long). Would love to see you setups!

Quote: AGREE, again I do the dry hatch and dont do high humidity lockdowns, only aroun 60-62 maybe at least until they start popping out! then it naturaly goes up from the damp chickies.

Marine~ I so hope you stick with the thread, its so great to have some more experience to help the kiddos and others out with their hatches... plus your cool and like you!

Ok thanks...this is my first hatch so I am nervous
you got this kelly!! do what marine said... I often open and air out just a second to lower humidy... but if you want to stick to that humidity have at it as somethings work for others that dont work so well ourselves!

Yes, he'll come back. My DH is out there waiting for him to. The one I lost today was actually injured last night and it was hard to see just how bad his injuries were. I have electric poultry fencing 48" tall around the perimeter of all my coops. It's strong enough to make you wet your britches if you aren't wearing insulated shoes. It hurts when you are wearing the right shoes. My guess is, he jumped the fence because the corner stake was sprung. I have large hoop coops in the center of the 40'x40' enclosures. I've delt with coyotes, raccoons, & opossums.... Never a bobcat. I'm only 5' tall myself though and by the time I get home from work, its already dark. Not that I think he would actually confront me, but the DH said it was the size of our medium size dog. No thanks! We have small nephews and I'm not willing to risk that. Yikes!
