and article? :fl

Lol! I'm excited to say that Yolk is doing wonderful! She is the most polite little chick and is very relaxed just longing in my hand. She is a little smaller than the rest of the crew but plows her way to the front of the line when she wants to. She doesn't take her size into consideration when it comes to "mock" play fighting and is feathering in just as she should. I'll update with a current picture tonight. As for the article... I'm afraid I'll have to wait until this move is over... Agggh! :D

SHIPPED EGGS and SADDLE SHAPED AIR CELLS ~

(when one or both sides have a large "dip" in the air cell.)

Look at this position..... I read that alot of times with saddle shaped cells the chick doesnt position correct for hatching and alot of times the feet are in a bad place like stuck behind the head and actually smoosh the chick so they cant move, it can also force the yolk sack and everthing more north in the shell....

Look at the pics and note the top of the egg and how far down this air cell goes, alot of times they CAN do the internal pip but cannot hit that outer membrane/shell. This is why I mark the air cells and keep a close watch on them and if they seem "later" that the rest by about 6-12 hrs I will begin an assist by candle and tapping to make sure I have that internal pip, HOWEVER in this case you cant see the internal pip too well because of the angle, so I always tap to see if I hear them. and if I do hear a chirp then I follow the Assist steps... If not I check again in another 6 hours....and repeat...

I know...I am harrassing....  lol how is it going?  are you packing yet or actually unpacking??

Just finished collecting boxes to start packing... Yuck! I have a pretty good plan for my animals moving, still waiting for the house plan to cone together. I'm excited to revamp the existing coops at the new place. Yew haw!

All these duck pics are making me want ducks! Meanies! *insert raspberry here*

Well, I just candled and the results were:

1 'wobbly' air sac with significant movement (was a roller)
4 'loose' with movement on the edges
16 firmly attached/ very, very little movement
1 too dark to tell

Veining:
15 with defined veins
4 that I think have veins or have very light veining (2 darks that I think I saw veins in but can't be 100%)
3 with no visible veins ( I think 1 infertile and 2 are just too dark to tell)

I think I will plug in the turner tonight. :D
