How old are they now. I swear by four weeks you can tell a boy from a girl its almost as good as atuo sexing breeds lol.
They are from before Christmas, I could tell that roo at a week old!
I know she has a double rabbit hutch so the roo will go in with straights and we hope she gets a straight roo out of the bator... then she can have her frizzle hen/s on that side.... the other two hens from CPL look fuzzy I think they frizzle to frizzled : ( or something... they are pretty but harmony wants to sell eggs so that wont work at all!

I love my silkie though I am starting to think she isnt the brightest bulb in the lamp if you know what I mean. I am haveing a hard time keeping her from eating stuff. She will have food and water down and she will still go over the floor like a vacume and eat paper and bedding and whatever else the vacume missed . She reminds me of one of those doofy dogs that are sapose to be smart but when it comes to chewing and eating things they arnt sapose to there just down right dumb. Anyone have any ideas .??
LOL

 I had a dream last night that one of my hens secretly went broody and hatched chicks without me knowing about it! I was stressing out in the dream about DH freaking out about six extra chicks. :p I already have 22 in the bator sooooo...

Hey everyone... I have a question! What is the longest you have set eggs before hatching?

Heresmy reasoning... We are moving February 1st. Right before we move, I plan on worming the chickens because they will most likely quit laying for a while after the move anyway. My plan was to collect eggs 10 days before worming them so I can fire up the incubator at the new place. Ahh... The addiction! However, I was thinking about dating and collecting eggs starting tomorrow to see what my hatch rate is for longer. I know they say 7 days is optimum and I was pushing it at 10 days, BUT... what do you think? Would I just be wasting my time. I have 41 spaces I can fill and set newest eggs first... Hmmm? Opinions?
Sounds like an interesting experiment!
