Oh, yeah, Did I mention that I went over to my neighbor who was going to give me the eggs, and he said that they had frozen in the -30 weather! He said that i can go and see the chickens that he's getting the eggs from when he goes to get them next time, and he said that they are all multicoloured and some are black (hoping australorps: my favourite breed!) I don't know when I will get the eggs, but I shall soon!!! By the way, the weather is going to change by 40 degrees! It is going from -30 yesterday to plus 10 tomorrow!!! Holy cow!!!

Man, it will be a nice day when my boogers don't instantly freeze when I go outside and I can actually take a deep breath of air outside without going in to a coughing fit! lol

She is hatching chick #2 now!! I went in the room and I heard 2 chicks chirping...and sure enough she was pecking at the shell...Wow she makes it so easy and to think she didn't go online and research all the info as I did hahaha its all natural and programed in her
Awwwwww :3

Never mind. They just said "A high of two degrees tomorrow, starting with snow mixing with ice pellets and rain for the afternoon." :( Oh well. It's not freezing at least.

Hahaha I know what you mean..we had days like that here in NH you can feel your nose hairs freeze ...So excited for you to get your eggs! I am glad you found some..Hope wont even know what to do once she has new friends, she will probably peck at em..thats what mine do

Hehehe she is sitting on a perch by me while I'm typing this. She's preening her feathers. :3 ... She has these two little feather stubs that she constantly pecks and nibbles on near the top of her tail and she has been for a while. It looks like it annoys her.

Hey 3D... That is her oil gland right above her tail. They use the oils from that gland to preen & clean. It also helps protect their feathers for weather. Sounds like she's doing a great job maintaining her beautiful white feathers! :D

Hi all! HELP! Need some advice! Incubating shipped silkie eggs...day 11. Nice veining and movement in all. Almost all have large saddle or partial saddle air cells. I have kept them upright and only started turning at day 7. I think the humidity was high the first week 60-65

(didn't have a hygrometer just followed Brinseas directions) Have a hygro now and have been running about 40 for the past few days. My question is should I increase or decrease the humidity because of the already large air cells? Or will it make no difference? Thanks so much for any input!!!
