Also if he is young it might have something to do with whether he is getting a bullseye too. The younger they are the more clumsy they are.
 
Gah...it must be dry in here. My humidity is sloooooooooooowly rising from 50. It hit 50 quick but is only gaining a percent every so often. I had so much trouble getting to 50, I bet it goes way high now. It would be my luck.

It only took giving my boy a trim this time and last time i checked 100% fertility.

Poor girl will be feeling the breezes from both ends.

Oh and the guy I am getting my next batch of eggs from plucks the feathers around the vents. I personally think it would be torturous to the bird and would take forever. A nice little trim works just as well.
 
Sally, I just separated him for now. I'll put up a craigslist ad tomorrow because I really don't want to keep a piranha.

And yes, many cochin breeders have to trim or pluck vent fluff in order for successful breeding and I imagine that the same thing goes for silkies.
