I can't do it if I don't have shipped eggs??
Your shaking the egg mimics what the shipping companies do to the eggs. If you shake a shipped egg you'll end up with an omelet.

I have 16 eggs going into lockdown this evening. I have a couple that look like the air cell is a little small. Any ideas on how or if I can increase the size of the aircell? These are from my chickens so not shipped. Normal shaped just seem small for day 18.

Mid Feb is what I am shooting for to set the shipped eggs. BLR Wyandottes and partridge penedsencas.

OMG OZ no time to shake an egg!!

LMAO

Seriously awesome to help sumi out!!!
Excuse me little miss sunshine. Perhaps I need to be clearer. I aint got no eggs!! Nada. None. Not even a food 4 less excuse for an egg.

The stuff to help Sumi was generated at 3 am while I was unable to sleep due to jet lag. I like Sumi - even if she is South African and they suck at cricket. LOL

Untill I have a home to buy eggs for, perhaps my travels to the Philippines can give insight into shaking.

I had 4 eggs with rolling air cells out of 73.

I paid a lot for shipping materials. This is the quail version. the chicken size is 25 eggs. They were 8 bucks each! but I figured I was dropping a bundle on eggs and this could be a once in a lifetime chance so the need out weighed the expense.

The 25 eggs I took on the plane in my special little suitcase that seemed to be designed for this had one air sack that was rolling. The remainder was in the 48 that were in the golf bag that traveled in the hold of the plane and was loaded manually, no conveyers.

The difference in the results is not statistically significant. The damage was probably caused by the air turbulance or me driving the bumpy road home rather than the baggage handlers. The eggs had to be set and then transported 107km on a bumpy road with the bators running. The foam would not fit so they were just sitting in the trays.

Based on my anecdotal experience - its not the travel but the packaging. I am a huge fan of my foam inserts. If I get eggs from BYC - I will send the person the foam to send the eggs back in.

If you figure in the losses, some people are paying a ridiculous price to hatch an egg.
