Oh, crumbs. Are you sure? Then try and keep it in the shell before it detaches from the membrane. I think someone set to put them in something small, like a teacup, to keep them upright and in the shell until they finished absorbing the yolk. But it might just be egg gunk

I just saw you posted 50 minutes ago... Guess it's too late for that then. Is it yolk?

I can't tell. It's red orange(bit more red than orange) hangs off the lower belly, slightly smaller than my pinky nail and when the chick lays down it is visable just behind the vent. It's really hanging....

The chick has been really active....

Yolk is orange. I've seen something similar with one or 2 of my chicks.... I can't remember now, but your description rings a bell. did you look at sally's assisted hatch article? She put a pic up of an unabsorbed yolk sac.

How's the slow... sorry fast, one doing? Making progress?

Hi, sorry had to run off. DH took DS to the playground and DS fell about 11 feet from the top of the slide. He's o.k. Miraculously. Just a bit shaken and sore.

I'm afraid that does look like yolk. The only thing you can do now is keep her in the bator with the humidity high and wait

Glad DS is ok!! What is it with kids and their ability to completely freak out us parents and come out perfectly fine? I swear I didn't have one gray hair before DS was born. Found the first one the Mothers Day after he was born.
