adding next up is due to hatch for the easter hatchalong due Sat I think??????

Also, Yesterday I set silkies and brahama.
when I see how the first hatchings go with the brahma and I get enough nice hens, DH will start auctioning eggies and I have to send out the winning eggs to the contest winner that won a few.

and of course I have a special needs person that will get some of them

I have a couple cockerels one is only a few months old he already tries to boss me. He will grab my jeans with his beak and peck my feet. He won't be lasting around here much longer. My Terrorist as I named him is in solitary confinement for his behavior. He has still managed to peck my hands a couple times. If I didn't want him for breeding he would be chicken soup already. He does this thing where he comes running up to me and acts like he found something to eat and makes me drop my guard and then he attacks. Usually just my feet and legs since he is so big he can't get much higher than that.

he needs the feather duster treatment

grab him and hold him down firmly with his head on the ground fir a good couple of minutes, then carry him around the coop and use him as a feather duster to clean - a rub here - a rub there.

repeat daily

one day when your bent, it will be your eye.

That is why he is in solitary confinement. I tried everything to straighten that boy out. Feather duster is always an option.

I'm going to go watch the incubator for a bit. And I'll try and get pics for you.

Quote: in all seriousness..... I started to add a cup of scratch in my pocket, my roos know I am for sure not an enemy! Now if the kids would remember to grab some before running like mad hens into the run we would be ok!

If I didnt have dogs that hunt birds I could keep him in the house, as it is, its been frightening several times with kids leaving doors open!

so if I get rid of dogs and kids hmmmmmm

I HAVE AWESOME NEWS!!!!!
Today we went to a local chicken buy/sell/trade market! We traded 3 of the chicks for the guarentee of a Mille flure d'uccle hen that should hatch in a couple weeks! And maybe a drake for my mallard duck!!! YAYAYYA
