when I start incubating, i dont want any of those![]()
YAY, I am a brat!!!!!!!
Hi TMN !Ok.... Hoping for some advice... Not sure where I am going wrong.
I'm still fairly new to this hatching thing. My first incubator hatch was the NYD hatch and I think I did pretty well aside from some fertility issues, I set 45 and hatched out 21. One died shortly after hatching.
My next hatch also went fairly well. I set 36 eggs, but a fair number were infertile. I ended up hatching out 8 of about 10-12 that made it to lockdown...
I was hatching in a still air Hovabator, then I got a Hovabator Genesis. My Easter hatch was disastrous! Many were infertile, but of the ones that made it to lockdown, only one hatched, and it hatched the day after lockdown, then NOTHING after that!!
I have a staggered hatch in the Genesis right now, using the still air for a hatcher. I put 6 Ameracauna eggs in lockdown on Monday. One pipped on Tuesday and didn't make any progress for over 24 hours. It didn't seem to be able to turn to start zipping. I was able to assist slightly through the vent holes with a probe and the chick made it out fine without me opening the bator or compromising the humidity. Today was hatch day and NOTHING from the other 5 eggs! No movement, no pips... I'm so afraid I'm going to have a single hatch again... What am I doing wrong??
