Ok, I'm sorry to change subjects on you guys but I have an emergency. I ordered chicken, duck, turkey, and guinea eggs off eBay and they all showed up today. I'm planning on hatching these in my new farm inovations incubator. I've only ever used broody hens to hatch in the past, and like a fool I didn't do enough research on incubating different species together. All my eggs showed up surprisingly in good condition, but I now know that my duck eggs might suffer when the chickens hatch seven days before they do. I plan on allowing the eggs to settle from shipping for 24 hours at room temp, then placing them in the incubator for 5 days without turning them, then start hand turning the eggs on day six. I plan on using the dry hatch method until lock down, and then bumping the humidity up to 55-60 at lock down. My eggs are only three days old as of now, if the shipper sent fresh eggs. Since I only have one incubator and no hatcher, I thought about waiting a week before setting the chicken eggs in with the duck, turkey, and guinea eggs to avoid contaminating the other eggs when the chickens hatch. Any thoughts or ideas on if this plan will work, or any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hmm...well the longer you wait on starting the eggs the lower their odds go, so you would really have to think about this. I don't know what you should do, but I'm sure someone will have your answer

I have never used shipping eggs, but always read that you need to let them set for a week. Sally can correct me if I'm wrong. And I do know duck eggs take 28 days not 21. So I would start the duck eggs first, then after 6-7 days start the chicken eggs. Then they should hatch all the same time.

i have hatched chicken and duck eggs together before with no major problems but was told recently that sometimes the different humidity levels can cause issues..although when i did it i didnt have any problems...is possible i just got lucky..im sure some one here will know more..
