this afternoon! just waiting on the first peep then uping the humidity some! Sally only had 3 eggs that seemed a little behind in the end and I have put marks on them too. 1 looks worse than the rest, but we shall see. They were all moving around in there when I candeled last night so I know they were alive just didn't fill the egg as much! Sorry if I missed it but is anyone else going into lockdown Today or tomorrow or even yesterday?

Kat Can't wait for some

I have eggs hatching on day 20. 3 are out so far. One incubator goes into lockdown today, another one tomorrow.

Will the dry hatch method work for the ducks, turkeys, and guineas? I've got my incubator in my safe room in my basement, and the humidity is running at a constant 30%. Also since i don't have an automatted egg turner, should I place the eggs in egg cartons inside the incubator while turning or lay them on their sides?
I wrote about this in the other response

Ok, I'll search for that thread. If my friend doesn't have a broody hen available, I might try to build a hatcher out of a styrofoam cooler, light bulb, and some hardware cloth. Since it will be in lock down maybe I can keep the humidity, and temp high enough. This incubator stuff is all new to me, i've always had broody hens in the past.

Sounds like a plan

oh and HEY CODY........

That's what I have read also. Duck, turkey, and guinea eggs take 28 days, and chickens take 21. My concern is that waiting a week will put the chicken eggs at ten days old when I place them in the incubator, and I'm afraid my hatch rate will suffer greatly. But if I place them at the same time I'm worried that the bacteria from the chickens that hatch a week early will harm the other eggs. I do have a friend who has some very broody old English game hens, I might contact him about setting the chicken eggs for me under his hens, and incubating the duck, turkeys, and guineas together in my incubator.

I didnt let them settle at all they went straight in because i didnt know :) they hatched fine and are two days old now
