Ancona Duck Update,

Oz, I did the hole drill, when I checked them last night, ALL of them but one is internally pipped, with no Externals. So I will put this to the test with them. 16 internal pips 16 tiny holes. the one without a internal pip obviously was malpositioned, and I know his chances were slim, so I opened the top and gently found his wing and pulled is head up. HIS HEAD WAS HUGE, no wonder he couldn't turn!
Not sure if he will make it, I didn't get a single drop of blood, so its all up to lung acclimation and prayers! He is so cute too!

16 internal pips getting air, sounds awesome, but PRAY FOR DUCKIES NOW PLEASE!!!! the eggs have been rolling around since Monday! they are all chirpin up a storm to each other! shhhhweeeeettttt

They are constantly on a cement floor (with hay) and none of the others have this problem. His beak just grows extremely fast. Part of his lower beak was broken off during the fight which makes his top beak look worse.

I was looking for the clippers the other day and I couldn't find them. I look again tomorrow.

Their heads are smaller than the marbles!!! I feel like I'm missing out. But, Alas, DH would kill me if I asked him to build me one more pen. He had to build me a new brooder tonight for your batch of chicks. LOVE THEM!!! They are Yeti!! 1 Brahma, 2 Blue & 4 Splash Cochin!! The legs are sooo furry!

First off, you don't need a new coop, Button quail are smaller than the chicks you hatch, they barely poop and I keep mine in the lower level aquarium. easy care and cool to watch!

THEY DONT EXIST UNTIL WE SEE PICS!!! I am so glad you got a good mix! I want to see them! all my chicks have awesome leg feathering, so cool aint it! I love the brahma feet!
What up with the other brahma dead?

I haven't gotten a fertile Serama egg yet, but boy can they breed the D'Uccles! I've gotten 100% with them..

crap don't tell that, Renne will be upset if they are not fertile! I need that mag glass!!!! grrrrrr

Sally, congratulations on the button quail! That's a great hatch rate!

I candled tonight which would be day 3. All of the white eggs are definitely developing as well as the light brown eggs. The rest I couldn't see into.

I like day 3 or 4 candlings because I love watching the tiny little heart beats.

How do I tell who is a boy??? and what do I do with the rest! LMAO!! I am already designing a tiered plexi front breeder pen/s! DH don't know it yet! buttons don't need much and they don't stink or mess up digging or anything, they are really cool to watch too!

Ummmm good luck with that and keep the others just for giggles and so DH can make you a new pen for all the loving care you are giving him.

feed and water and talk to them, they sing the most awesome songs chicks, seriously they sound amazing, sometimes I can hear them singing and then when I walk in the room they all stop and look at me, like "wasn't us"
