Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Thanks Sally, I'll be patient. I know you are busy. I just purchased some eggs and I think only 2 out of the 15 are growing in the bator. When I candle them the fat end looks really weird, I'll have to take a pic and post tonight. I'm disappointed but also know shipped eggs are a gamble. I really want a few lavender Ameraucanas so I appreciate the help.

Ok search Shaffer on here. You will not find anyone better. He has Lav. and is one of the top breeders. He also packs beautifully. I just hatched his black orps with 10 out 15 hatching.

The chick's neck and legs seem fine. She was running around with the other 2 trouble makers half the night bowling!

I was 17 when someone showed me the right way to do it. Obviously at that age, I got it o the first try. All those years I resorted to two loops crossed over, and tied.

I decided to get the chicks out, and into a brooder. I then candled an EE, and opened it. I wasn't shocked that the chick was dead. The aircell was huge. I am wondering if the aircell was the problem. My understanding was that the large aircell causes retardation. She was not done growing. I am wondering if that was due to the aircell or something else?
Also, the 4 that came out (3 very fast) had normal sized aircells when I was candling. Only 2 out of 14 had large aircells. That is when I stopped the dry method, and added enough water to raise humidity to 30-35% after the 2nd week.
I am wondering if the other 7 are going to be dead too, and why?

I can't make my question come out right! How did I get 10 (14-2 early quitters) normal aircells and 2 large using the dry method in a still air, and I only candled three times?
I have confidence in my next hatch (this weekend). I do want to be sure I learned the right lesson!

Turkey chick question..... do they always consume so much water and crap water and poo or is something wrong with my three?

Turkeys can get coccidiosis too. I hat to medicate my three. Now that they're healthy, mine aren't so watery anymore.

Okay, I am very sorry. I am driving you guys crazy.
I decided to candle and do eggtopsies. One EE is moving. I didn't see her beak, so I am thinking it is not internally pipped. I got down to the last 2 eggs. Marans. One was too full. I began with the one that I saw an aircell. It made me hurt. I had 2 others that were formed, but not 100% "done" and dead. This one was perfect, and internally pipped. If I had gone to her sooner, she would be alive. I am now not "okay" with the hatch. I am 100% sure that I am going to candle more, and watch all aircells and humidity this time. I won't be preoccupied like I have been this last crucial week (my sister's ill mannered dog leaves tomorrow!).
The last Marans egg is still alive. Like I said, the egg was too dark to see, and she isn't making noise. When I began to open the shell, I saw her moving. She is wrapped in a moist towel, and in the incubator. I will read Hatching 101 AGAIN, and pray.
While I am reading, I am nervous. Please tell me whether to help the EE or leave her alone.

yea but when I say poults everyone assumed older "poults" these are what I just hatched and they sound like ducks when they poo almost all water?????? its not red bloody or white just water!

if she isn't internally pipped I wouldn't, but it depends if you feel ok doing it.... everything is in that assist article. if she looks dry in there and no fluid at her beak you can free her beak and let her acclimate. if she is malpositioned see the article
