My info on filing for an insurance claim came from here https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/the-truth-about-insuring-hatching-eggs but I did NOT bother with calling my PO or any of that. I followed the online links to file online https://www.usps.com/ship/file-domestic-claims.htm I listed it as "Animal" I stated the damage as "Air cells detached and bacterial contamination from raw egg" I attached photos of the box with the "fragile" "hatching eggs" "this side up" and my phone number on it, the open box with what looked like careful packing, the smashed eggs and crusted ones, and a jpg of a screen shot of my paypal receipt. I submitted it all online and they accepted it. Should apparently be getting a check in the mail. My eggs were shipped priority with automatic $50 coverage. They asked me for the price of shipping, then asked the price of the item NOT including shipping. I am not clear on which amount I am getting (total with shipping or not including shipping). But its better than nothing either way. My total price was $59 and the shipping portion came to $11.24 I think.

The post office changed some of their shipping. I send out a flat or priority box and it comes with 50.00 insurance automatically! You might want to check on that.

That's what she said when she checked the tracking stuff! I gave her the info and asked her to come join us on the thread. Thanks Chicka d

Your welcome. It did not take me long to get my money back! Hopefully it won't take her long either! That's nice hopefully she will join in! Tomorrow I am hoping my second attempt at hatching goes well!

I just went down to check the bator, I had pips, NOW I have what looks like a MURDER scene! Pictures are ALOT pretty than it is, its BLOOD RED all over the brahma eggs and sides and the chick is crazy running around and looks fine after I cut its cord off! HOW WEIRD never had this happen! I think the chick will die, how can it live with that blood loss? But its as active as all of them, and they are the MOST active chicks I ever hatched!
