a friend of mine just has a hatch and the chicks intestine are out. How can we help it?

I really can't tell you what to do with it but I would definitley put it in a teacup with a wet paper towel on the bottom so it doesn't dry out or damage itself in the incubator. Hopefully somebody with more experience will be on here soon, but do put it in the cup!

Just checked about 20 mins ago and had more piping and a big crack down the back of the egg and it also finally broke through the membrane. So fingers crosses I'll have something by the morning. Haven't noticed anymore movement from any other eggs either :( maybe tomorrow will be better. I always have such trouble with my incubator. I have the little giant and I'm just not a huge fan. My temp seems to fluctuate to much with it.

. One day I'll play in the big leagues. My guess is 45 minutes you'll have a chick. Lol! My way of encouraging hatchers..hover over that incubator, flashlight on and tap the window chirping at it. Then turn the light off and be quiet, they don't like that! Then turn it on again...It works! Sometimes you've just gotta get their butts moving! (I know I'm gonna get flack for this tomorrow

here is a pretty good collection of data on shipped eggs. I have data on more than 1600 shipped chicken eggs When I hit 2000 I will publish

all eggs on atleast 2 planes and 3 hrs drve on a bumpy road. some traveled from all over usa to cali as well.

the results are viability after 1st candling at 10 days

note that failures were often a whole batch

fertility, egg age, treatment during travel are all factors.

this was a single hatch set christmas day 2013

2 while I was in their and the chick is moving around in the egg but no signs of internal pipping? So what's up with that? Are they still ok? Today at 4pm will mark day 23. I'm afraid I'll lose them.

I am not sure what to tell you, I dont mess with any eggs until after most have hatched, because I have done more damage thinking I can save an un internally pipped chick than not.... Its still a 75% loss in these attempts with me. :( sorry! in the assist article, start study the positions of malpositions and anatomy just in case.
