My hens do this too; cochins and silkies.
I usually don't notice a sudden abundance of feathers, but if you flip a broody hen over, her chest is almost always bare. I believe that they need to have direct contact with the eggs.
There was a typo. I met to say slightly above .83 to .86, but .96 is much too high.
Were the eggs you weighed of equal size and shape? Perhaps try it again with 2 different eggs? If .96 is accurate, then your eggs will have only lost 4% of their masses while they need to lose 14% - 17%.
Remove all of the water for starters and don't replace it until there are internal pips.
Is your incubator forced air? If so, mist the eggs and leave the incubator open for about 5 minutes before putting the top back on. The water droplets will evaporate and will aid in moisture loss.
You may want to add some rice as well. Rice absorbs moisture, right?
I don't think I would have to add rice humidity is under 25. Did put them into lockdown but didn't add water. Half of them are on 83-86 yet the bigger ones are from 93-96. I do have hopes up. I used to hatch without any experience now I worry more because I know more.
