Quote: Thanks, I was hopeful and did what I could and some. He is still alive for now. He is on the counter in a styro bator because I had to quickly bleach and dry for my other eggs
I dont know what to tell you, the rest in there before they do the external pips. Are you thinking he cant get through membrane? only you can judge whats going on. you know how you ran and air cells and so forth. Use your best judgement.I have two internally pipped chicks. One I can see dancing around in there like a little fraggle/muppet. The other one looks just like a moving shadow, very thin like 1/4 inch thick if that, and I can't see the point lyrics beak at all. Could he be shrink wrapped? I know he's internally pipped, I hear his tiny very quiet peeps. Could he be malpositioned? I'd really like it to not die, I only got 4 to develop out of 28!
I would lay the eggs flat. When did you remove them from the turner? Can you get a temperature reading on it now? Thursday morning would be the beginning of day 22, so Wednesday is your due date. Not sure if this is the right thread for questions but given the number of posts you guys are surely active...
I am on information overload right now. I've been reading the learning center articles and some other shorter threads and I just need some quick clarification (and possibly a little hand holding).
I'm hatching eggs for the first time with my youngest daughter's preschool teacher. She has done this previously with a kit of sorts sent by the boyscouts. I provided and Genesis 1588 with turner for her to use with the class.
I bought eggs from a local breeder and set them on a Thursday at 9am. We basically just followed the instructions that came with the bator. We did not perform candling or use independent thermometers.
Is tomorrow (Thursday morning) the start of day 21?
Should there be any piping or movement by now? She mentioned that with her other eggs she could see them rocking by this point.
The breeder told us to place them in an egg carton as opposed to laying them on their side in so the early hatchers don't play hockey with their siblings. Could this be why we haven't observed any wiggling?
Also, is there a consensus on how long I should leave the operation going? We don't need a flock at this point. I'd be happy with a couple. Still I may need to purchase some chicks for the class and slip them in the brooder overnight.
