Posted this on FB, sharing here as well.....

So my chicken Hatching & SELLING days are over, its final. Now do we sell and deal with people coming and going, dealing with no shows, or take time to box for auction or just process and get it over with? Harmony will keep her frizzle project littles for a while and sell her eggs, and we will keep some legbar and misc for selling hatching eggs/ eating eggs, but the rest have to go. It wont get easier with winter coming. I have gotten some serious evil eye this morning from the very molting brahma gang, but it is what it is. I cant keep up with my health, the dust isnt helping, nor is the lifting 100lb feed bags and to top it off, the stress of selling chicks, it was supposed to be incubating that stresses! Shipping chicks an no shows are my worst enemy! I am done with dust in my house from chicks never collected or pushed off being shipped. Its just rude to order and turn around on someone. I am way too nice to be a chicken sales person, I am taken too over too much too. We decided to raise meaties for the freezer once a year to make use of some of the coops, over and done with in less than 2.5 months, meat in the freezer, no testing for NPIP no dealing with people or chickens 24/7. I cant say its all been bad, it hasnt by a long shot.... I met so many amazing chicken friends its unbelievable, I couldnt have found a better interest for meeting some amazing friendly and giving people that I am proud to call friends for life!

Ughhhh but its time, I know its the right thing to do at this point.
I loved my gang, really did!

Sally, its a hard decision but you will feel so much better once its done. I just restructured my flock and am planning on selling off half of whats left at the shows I'm going to this year. I still want to breed the breeds I have but I need to do it on a one-woman scale. No woman is an island, nor is she an entire staff of hatchery employees.

And yet, as I say this I have a full incubator sitting behind me (bresse and silkies so it doesn't count)
