Diatomaceous Earth

Since writing this article, I have a new train of thought that I learned here. I now only use Food Grade DE. After carefully reading about for using on Cats & Dogs, it says it had an insecticide. All DE is an type of insecticide, but the package didn't explain, and I got scared off about using it. Now after other reviews about how great food grade is good for humans, I tried it last night and again this morning. I took 1-level teaspoon, and I got my energy back today, which I haven't had since the temperatures in Texas, with high humidity have zapped me, since late June, maybe July. I remember my house keeper , maybe 55-years ago telling me they would eat a grey clay that made them feel better. After reading articles, I think is was because of the higher concentrations of DE. As a young child I liked my mud pies, YUK! Didn't taste like chocolate pie

I too caught a flash of contradiction.
if it does not work when wet, how can it do any harm in wet deep litter ?
last year I used it to dust my potato plants.
it did not do too much damage to the potato bugs
maybe their armor is too thick ?
food grade is meant that humans can eat it.
chickens do not need food grade.
they eat dirt and clay attached to their grit.
I have some DE. I think I will just dump it somewhere where the chickens dust themselves.
..

When feeding DE to your flock, the intent is to kill the internial paracites that chickens are plagued by. Never mind that chickens are much like humans, at least like us humans in so far as our water content is concerned.

Several people who use or sware by DE have already testified that wet DE is useless for its intended purpose of killing internial paracites. Am I missing something here or is it just me?.
When putting out DE, it's a dry powder, like for putting where the chickens dust themselves. When putting on plants to help control bugs. But when it gets rained on, it's over, gets washed away. After everything dries out, you have tor repeat the procedure. Does that help?
