I do the same thing. Plus I dust my donkeys and dogs with it also. It kills fleas and ticks immediately. I live near the Suwannee River, and last year when it crested, I dusted with DE and the mosquito problem went away almost over night.Yes. I often mix it with the hay in the nest boxes, and if I see they've dug themselves a good "dusting bowl" I sprinkle it liberally in there as well.
