Did aliens abduct all the baby chicks?

I have my first chicks this year from my local feed store. When I called them to see when they were having chick days they told me that I needed to pre order for the chicks days. They then told me they only order as many as people request in the pre orders. I was a little ticked at first becasue I wantd to be able to wander in a pick as many as I wanted from what I saw that day. I pre ordered like everyone else. I was the first one there when the chicks came in so I had my pick of the breeds I had ordered. They told me I could call in 3 days to see if anyone did not pick up their order. I did call and all ordered chicks were picked up. Now after reading what is happening to these feed store chicks that are not getting picked up I think more of them should follow my feed stores example!

Our local Texas feed store puts up a flyer in early February with all the chick types and availability dates thru late March with new chicks every week. If you don't want what they have coming in they will accept special orders. They had a special order come in for someone last month but they normally recommend not buying in the Texas summer. They create a list of people that will take their leftover chicks. Each year they ask in the winter what breeds everyone is interested in before they place their order. I think they do a great job but they aren't a chain.

Side note: They didn't bring in Bufff Orpingtons this year as they would have had to charge a lot more for them due to their cost. They were told there was a shortage of BOs. Does anyone know why?

Supposedly BOs were the "it" chick this year (per my horrible feed store), which made them hard to get. Don't know if that's true or not, but the feed store ordered a whole bunch, and now can't sell them.

What town is the feed store in? I can talk my DH into more chicks as I lost some this year.
