Grrr.. so when I was cleaning my incubator I dropped my thermometer. It didn't break, and looked fine. Well, I put it in the incubator and I had to adjust my heat way down in order to get it to read close to 100 degrees. So, I bought a wal-mart one and put it in there to check. It looks like the wal-mart is reading like 97 deg, and the other one is like 3 degrees warmer. Which do I beleive? I'm getting so frustrated as my eggs should have been in there!

Could my Brinsea be broke, even though the glass or nothing broke when I dropped it (hard wood floor)?

TIA!

If it is a liquid in glass thermometer from Brinsea, short of actually breaking the thing I would go with it. They are very accurate the shock from being dropped should not effect it.

I had trouble with mine and just sent it back to the company. They returned it to the factory setting and said it works fine now... it is on its way back. You might try to do that. If you need help, call them. They are very helpful.

Oops thought you were talking about your incubator.... nevermind

This is not accurate.

When an alcohol or mercury thermometer is badly shaken or droped it may affect it's reading, you may see air gaps between the tiny fluid reading level. (There is never complete vacuum inside the tiny tube.).

If you see air gaps then the reading will be more than it really is.

In doubt compare and verify with other trustworthy thermometer.

Correct. But as you state it would be visually apparent that the thermometer had air gaps.
