Full disclosure-- I don't actually care if it turns out that no, I didn't get what was advertised, I'm more curious than anything. I bought 6 silver laced chocolate orpington hatching eggs to incubate (along with some others) and the babies arrived today. Only 2 made it, but they look very different from each other. Everything I've read says they should breed true, and aren't sex-linked, so I'm stumped. Did I just get a straight up chocolate baby? Is the grey one more in line with what I shouldve expected?

I've never hatched a Chocolate Silver-laced. ( I hate the variety...lol) The one in the foreground looks to be right: however, even in just the Silver-laced birds, I get a lot of variety when they are chicks. I'd wait until they start to feather out to be sure. Have you emailed a picture to the breeder to ask them what they think?

I haven't, but that's a good idea. Thank you!
