Did I kill my chick????

Hello!

I'm not very active on Backyard Chickens (my last post, which was about quail hatching) was eight months ago lol), but I am hatching another batch of eggs after eight months, this time lavender Orpingtons. One of my chicks hatched yesterday morning. I am waiting for the other two to hatch.

A couple of hours ago, I took out an egg from my incubator with an external pip from my incubator to candle it, thinking that it was dead. I took the egg out for about thirty seconds. Then a couple hours later, I opened my incubator for about twenty seconds to check on the egg. I noticed that the chick was alive, and that the beak was moving around inside! I immediately put it back in and gently sprayed the egg with water to soften the shell, but I'm super worried now.

Could I have killed my chick from taking it out, even though I only took it out from the incubator for about a minute, and will my chick be ok?

(Note: I did the incubator three or four split-second-quick times today to pour water in the tray and increase the humidity of the incubator)

On day 23 my broody hen came off the nest with 4 chicks-all of them hatched within 24 hrs of each other. Chick #5 was an egg left it the nest that I hatched in an incubator the same day.I was fortunate .I was able to give it to momma to raise and it was close enough in age to the others that it was only a temporary set back for momma but she took it in stride. Its always tempting to mess with the eggs that don't hatch but beware that it can be a Pandora's box you are opening. Chick#5 is at least 48 hrs younger than the 1st chick that hatched and noticeably smaller.(right beside her)

I have another egg in the incubator that is not showing any signs of hatching. I had a chick hatch on day 22-23 and she is hopping around in the brooder right now. She's been really distressed and lonely this past couple of days since she's a singleton, but we got an ostrich feather duster from Walmart and taped it to the wall of the brooder, and she thinks it's a mother hen, so she's stopped chirping so much. This morning when I went to check on her, she was sleeping cuddled into it

UPDATE ON MY CHICK! Moving around a lot in the egg this afternoon and made very slow but steady progress overnight! Will be helping later if no significant progress is made in the next couple of hours!

What I mean is that I will most likely be helping the chick if it doesn't make any significant progress, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be happening. Still waiting though. Increased the temp from 38.6 to 38.9.

It can take 24 to 48 hours after pip for the chick to hatch. It's hard work and they rest a lot.

Yeah that's what the chick is doing. It's been napping a lot, but it woke up and chirped a bit before falling back asleep. It's hatching at 24-25 days term.

What should I do about the other egg? It is NOT showing any signs of hatching at all whatsoever and I'm worried it's not viable anymore. Not candling as of now because I don't want to shrink wrap the one that's currently in the midst of hatching.

Yeah, I prefer not to intervene with the hatching if possible. I will help if worst comes to worst and the chick cannot hatch on its own by tonight, but it was able to peck through the membrane (yesterday it was enclosed in the membrane)!
